Long Woltjer: Practical matters involve thinking. philosophy is about thinking. it means Love of knowledge. I would say that knowledge does have to do with practical matters and activity.... The more knowledge you have the more practical and effective you can work on something.So the question is not if it should concern itself with practical matters. More what the influence of philosophy is on what people do or do not do
