Hans Sachetti: My department any time you are on the range you have to wear a vest.Don't know for corrections guys. Our corrections guys qualify in our academy and re qualify while on duty. Since there is no interview involved wear something comfortable. polo sound great.I think people who wear 5.11 stuff or the like off duty (especially BDU's) are way to high on the wannabes list. They make me really question their reason for wanting to be in a job where they are armed when I participate in hiring interviews. But like I said you are not being interviewed....Show more
Will Camus: Whatever shirt you pick, make sure that it stops hot brass from going down your neck.
Clinton Quant: Forgot to mention that I already attended an academy and passed the state exam but it still makes no difference. I'm applying as a certified, trainee. I completely agree on the 5.11 gear... worn by wanna be's especially in south Florida..The 5.11 BDU pants were reccomended by our ac! ademy instructor as most comfortable, so I took his advice.Thank you for your responses!...Show more
Douglass Sarley: Pre employment, so not a member yet.I always wore jeans, boots for stability, cap and a T shirt that i could feel loose in.If your going to be the 5-11 BDU guy, with strack outfit, then definitely be consistent with a like shirt. and under t a blue shirt. When on duty for qualification, we always had to wear the uniform BDU as above but when firing could get rid of the shirt for a blue under shirt
