Betsey Copp: properly, it relies upon on what your skills are, and your persistence point. once you're talking approximately coaching "source" (the place the Sp. Ed. scholars come to your lecture room for their training in one or greater subjects), you will desire to have the abilities to help them carry close the belief of each and every concern at their point of expertise. commonly authentic Sp. Ed. scholars are functioning 2 grade ranges under their grade placement, so which you will desire to teach to their comprehension point. source isn't a remedial type, yet somewhat an option type. each and each pupil would have a distinctive concern, so which you will desire to have persistence and information of a thank you to teach to each and each pupil's needs. in case you're actually not prepared or in a position to try this, stick to popular training....Show more
Stevie Kizziar: The correct answer is several fold and somewhat varies by state.1. Most states (not all) r! equire a test usually the 0354 (Special ED CK test) This will qualify you for special ed. 2. To Teach in a regular ed classroom you need the 0014 (and/or 011 and/or PLT) again depends on your state. 3. To be teacher of record for a class as a special ed you need the 014 (or others). 4. To teach middle school you usually need the MS tests 0049, 0059, 0439, 0089Now the bad news. The odds of you getting a regular classroom job with special ed certs will be very hard. The actual need ares for education: willing to teach inner city or really really rural (read usually indian reservation) and for certs Special Ed, Math. Science. **Everything** else there is a glut of applicants for. And right now with obamanomics at work there is actually a small glut of math and science teachers. Remember the more certs you have the more valuable you become. And the more likely you are to get a job....Show more
Derrick Cacioppo: If you are certified in Special Education at the elementary l! evel, you don't need to take a Praxis. You can teach elementar! y students. You would be a great regular education teacher because special ed. teachers are very observant and use different teaching styles, interventions and this makes for a great teacher. As far as the secondary level, I am not sure about the certification process.Good luck.I have two friends who went from Special Ed. to the regular ed classroom in the elementary level I will check with them today. The best thing is to talk to your state department and find out what they require if you choose to make a switch. I just know Elementary Ed. teachers to not take a Praxis. I have an elementary certificate. I did not take a Praxis. I took the National Teacher Exam-the NTE. And the comps for my Elementary Guidance Master's certificate.I would check with authorities, not the wanna be's on Yahoo!! :) It may be different in each state.I wouldn't base my decision to one day teach regular classes on me or JMITW or the other bozo with all the ??numbers??. Get it on good authority-your! own state dept....Show more
