Travis Sherrock: Many schools and universities require it, but don't always enforce the requirement. Most universities require a bachelor's degree of some kind. If you do not have a teaching license or certification, then I recommend you read Donald Snow's book, "More than a Native Speaker." It's an excellent resource for teaching English as a second language. It includes a multitude of additional resources, as well as sample lesson plans, etc. It is a great starting point. The internet has a huge amount of resources as well. It does help if you can speak Chinese as well (dialect depends upon your location). Lon Pennington: It depends one what route you wish to take.China legal requirements for you to be able to teach in a school etc are that you just have a degree. For some schools and English teaching companies they will not employ you if you don't have a English teaching certificate, these will be the good schools...Most people teach on a business visa and renew it every 6-12 months, you don't need a degree or such, this is in fact illegal but many people do this. If you go this method it is a good chance that the school is not a good one.For more information you can try http://www.eslcafe.comwhich deals with other countries as well as China....Show more
