buying a flooded car?

Coleman Senn: If the car is super cheap, then maybe. After a while, the electrics will act up, and cost a lot to fix. If you can strip everything out, and dry it (electrical connections, as well as panels, seats, and carpet), it should be ok. Change all oil and filters. If you can't strip out the insides of the car yourself, your better off leaving it alone. The labor to dry out a flood car properly, will cost half of what the car is worth. If the damaged car was not flooded, and repaired properly, it would be better. Have a mechanic check it out. Good luck....Show more

Raelene Cunnick: It will have a salvage title and worse you will only be able to get liability more than likely becsuse if it gets totaled again the insurance does not pay it off. So if you paid 10 grand for the car you will lose 10 grand. also no matter what the jferk says 50 percent of low book is what they sell for not low book 50 percent of low book. These care are always misrepresented and dama! ge is always worse than they claim. There are no deals in salvage cars they are difficult to sell no dealer will take it as a trade in no matter how nice it looks and if it sat in the flood water for awhile it will always have a weird smell no matter what you do. The main systems like air bags and air conditioning may never work right again and on and on at some point I suggest you pass on these kinds of cars and do yourself a favor and buy one with a clean title its a lot easier to sell....Show more

Torrie Weissenbach: oh if that car won't do any good they have the same car but that one got damaged and they repaired that one should I get that one?

Asley Quickle: Don't buy any car that was flooded. The wiring will deteriorate from the inside out, the frame rails will rust from the inside. These cars cannot be trusted. Over time the car will begin to deteriorate from the salt water intrusion and no amount of clean up can fix that. Most salvage cars can't be cove! red with full coverage insurance and most lenders will not wri! te loans for a salvage vehicle....Show more
