Liberty or Security?

Olin Hallin: it depends for me.Depends what "liberties" I lose for what amount of securitySecurity sometimes because you can not have any liberty if you are dead. but some liberties, are not worth giving up...Show more

Rona Espalin: We have both Liberty and Security. We still need more Security. Some people want Terrorist Prisoners to have more freedom and liberty. So we would have less security.

Ervin Laeger: How can we truly be free without security?[Edit] Like my Great great great whatever grandfather said "give me liberty or give me death!"I would rather see 100 guilty citizens go free, then 1 innocent be imprisoned. That being said we need to stay stronger then those who would like to kill us, and we need to be able to prove it.

Dionna Doyel: Ok, I missed your question the first time, but here's my answer anyway. Liberty is more important, simply because security is an illusion. Security is nothing more than making yourself believe that you are! safe. This is a lie. You are only as safe as you make yourself, and to build up a wall of bullshit around you is idiotic. There are no guarantees in life, and in the end you will die someday. So learn to rely on yourself first, everything else second. This is the truth folks, don't bullshit yourself....Show more

Johnnie Pummill: Reality is there has never been security, but there is liberty.

Stevie Goldey: when did the idea of liberty apply to everyone? Liberty of some causes security problems for others. Giving rights to some people takes away rights from others. You are throwing a broad brush over the situation when it needs details.

Nancy Mansell: Well I am definitely a liberty person. Once freedom is lost it is gone forever, but security is almost always an illusion. I think most people who believe that security is more important believe this out of fear. Fear of death or fear of the unknown. Take your pick. In the end we are all going to die ! and I am in no hurry to get there, but what good is living if ! you cannot live free! To trade freedom for security is in effect a terrorist win because the ultimate goal of terrorism is to destroy our way of life.To the security posters I would say this. I believe in a strong defense. I believe in taking the fight to terrorists and hitting them where they live. However, in the case of liberty, freedoms are disappearing and this may seem like a small price to pay at this point, but it never stops with the small things. If history has taught us one thing about governments it is that they always go to far in the end and by the time people realize this fact it is often too late to reverse the course. The Founders believed in security for the nation, but they believed essential liberty was paramount to all other concerns....Show more

Buddy Ardd: Security. There is no liberty without it.I f I understand what you are saying: You have a problem with the government listening in on phone conversations from knownterrorists and people in the! USA. Those calls are transmitted by satellite. It is a radio transmission.According to the FCC regulations any signal that is transmittedcan be heard legally by anyone who has the equipment to doso. There is no expectation of privacy. Therefore a warrantis not necessary.does that clear things up for you?Thank you very much, while you're up....Show more

Lilli Kochel: Liberty is nothing without the security to uphold it. That's why security is more important. You need security to have liberty.

Madge Voice: I am reminded of a quote of Benjamin Franklin. "Those who would give up Liberty for Security usually end up losing both."

Barton Morfee: I'm not talking about a communist country because i never ever believed in a communist country. What i'm thinking is that if you're afraid to come out of the house are you really free? Everybody needs someon to protect them and right now we also have problems with terrorists. Nobody wants to loose liberty of course, b! ut in order to maintain a good life and be protected by enemies one had! to be protected. I'm not talking about giving up rights, or the right to vote, or the right to speak freely, etc....Show more

Valentine Willinger: Eisenhower once said, if you want to be safe, go to prison, there you get fed, a place to sleep, medical care, the only thing lacking is freedom. I choose Liberty thank you.

Rosio Pasculli: I'm not talking about a communist country because i never ever believed in a communist country. What i'm thinking is that if you're afraid to come out of the house without being shot are you really free? Everybody needs someone to protect them and right now we also have problems with terrorists. Nobody wants to loose liberty of course, but in order to maintain a good life and be protected by enemies one had to be protected. I'm not talking about giving up rights, or the right to vote, or the right to speak freely, etc....Show more

Chauncey Williama: I would rather die free, than live for one second under a police state. Loo! k at Russia, they thought communism was bad, well yup turns out it was better than what they have now.

Rhett Kaines: To my way of wondering, Liberty IS safe practices, so liberty can in straight forward words be sacrificed for PERCEIVED safe practices. I accomplish that wish that this weblog had better applications than only a spell checker, shall we use italics fairly than formidable font. easily, I appears like i have yelled at you when I truly have not.

Moises Rupinski: Dead with Liberty is no liberty at all. We can not choose others death to save our supposed liberty. We give up no liberties to have some in government see our cellphone records.
