I have a PS3, 32" TV, PC, 2 Stereo Speakers only (the stereo was broken but its large speakers work just fine!) a modem + a router (connected to each other), ... all in my bedroom. Try taking an art class through a community college (they can run between 0 and 100 $ if you're willing to pay) or buy a book about it since you enjoy reading. Then, you can donate your project to a local charity and even get involved with them at the same time.
