Question Regarding Objections at Weddings?

Damaris Weiler: I would have objected at my sister's wedding, but she didn't care if I came, and I was so angry and sad at her choice of a husband that I stayed home on purpose. I heard that she made the judge leave that part out. Objectoins should always be allowed, because my sister was nastily divorced in less than a year.

Jannette Kotz: > The Church's Dogma is the comparable today, because it became 2,000 years in the past, because it will be for all time. > So what's YOUR "authority"?...Show more

Kandi Lough: objections* where part of weddings back in the day where people were not registered at a court or a record of marriages were not kept. people were suppose to object if they knew one of the people were married. it was not meant for people going OMG I HATE THE GROOM or I AM STILL IN LOVE WITH THE BRIDE! so this part has been left out because people do have to get licenses now and things are checked out before hand.

Sammy Hatzenbihler: I think peo! ple themselves are choosing to leave it out.

Chi Alfero: I can only comment on the practice of the Roman Catholic Church. When getting married in the Catholic Church, couples are required to attend "Pre Cana" instruction. When that is completed, the couples' names are announced in the church bulletin for 3 weeks. Example:"Bans of marriage are announced for the first time between Jon Smith and Jane Doe" This is repeated 2 more times, (replacing "for the first time" with "for the second time" obviously) and it is through these announcements that anyone objecting to the marriage raises their concerns with a call to the rectory. So, it is no longer necessary to include the line in the vows....Show more

Rolanda Merritt: would you invite someone who would object to your marriage??? Ive never seen an objection!

Ronnie Sardi: i know it wasn't left out of mine. the time it was left out of mine was when we renewed our vows. i have never seen or did an objection. ! it's something i would like to see though.
